DICKINSON, ND- The 2016 North Star Athletic Association Cross Country Championships are hosted by Dickinson State University on Saturday, November 5th at the Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson at 2510 8th St SW, Dickinson, ND 58601.
The championship races will be run on the first nine holes of the course with both races starting on the fairway of hole No. 9 and finish on the fairway of hole No. 3.
Admission into the championship cross country meet is free.
Participating schools: Dakota State University, Dickinson State University, University of Jamestown, Valley City State University, Viterbo University, and Waldorf University.
Men's 8,000 meter run will begin at 11:00am (MT) followed by the Women's 5,000 meter run at 11:45am (MT).
The Official Awards Ceremony and a Buffet Lunch will be held at the Henry Biesiot Activities Center (BAC) after the races at 1:00pm (MT). Lunch buffet is a $9 charge at the door. Address to the BAC is: 398 State Avenue North, Dickinson, ND 58601 or call: 701-483-1918.
The winning men's and women's teams will earn an automatic bid into the 2016 NAIA National Cross Country Championships in Elsah, Ill on Nov. 19th. Individuals can also qualify to the National meet by meeting the following two standards: Top 4 finishers not on a qualifying team (automatic or at-large) and Individual overall finish must be 15th or better.
All-Conference Honors are given to the Top 10 overall individuals in each race. Coach of the Year awards and Champions of Character awards will also be given out.

This is the first time Dickinson State University has hosted the conference cross country championships since 2007 when they hosted the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) Championships.
Dickinson State swept the men's and women's team titles in 2015.
On the men's side, Waldorf was chosen at the preseason favorite, followed closely by Dickinson State.
For the women's race, Dickinson State was chosen as the preseason favorite followed by Jamestown.
The Men's individual title favorites look to be Nic Ganzeveld (Waldorf) and Dennis Gonzalez (Valley City State) based on their selection as NSAA Runner-of-the-Week honors throughout the 2016 season.
The Women's individual title favorites look to be Amanda Wolff (Dickinson State), Rachel Turi (Viterbo), and Haley Swanson (Viterbo) based on their selection as NSAA Runner-of-the-Week honors throughout the 2016 season.
