MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce its Academic Scholar-Athletes for the 2017 spring academic season Friday, with a total of 492 student-athletes receiving recognition.
The 492 recipients, participating in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's wrestling, men's and women's golf, men's and women's track & field, softball and baseball were recognized for their outstanding achievement in the classroom and on the playing field.
To be eligible for the NSAA Academic Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
Jamestown (N.D.) led the list with 101 scholar-athletes, followed by Waldorf (Iowa) with 65 scholar-athletes. Viterbo (Wis.) with 62 scholar-athletes. Valley City State (N.D.) had 61 scholar-athletes to the list. Bellevue (Neb.) recorded 47 scholar-athletes, followed by Dickinson State (N.D.) with 43 scholar-athletes and Dakota State (S.D.) with 40 scholar-athletes. Mayville State (N.D.) tallied 37 scholar-athletes, while Presentation (S.D.) recorded 36 scholar-athletes.
