Blue Hawks Complete Four Game Season Sweep of NCAA D2 U-Mary with Two Wins Wednesday

BISMARCK, ND- The Dickinson State University Baseball team completed the four game season sweep against old rival, the University of Mary, on Tuesday by defeating the Marauders 12-6 and 3-2. The Blue Hawks defeated U-Mary 12-7 and 6-3 at Astoria Field on March 9th.

Game 1: DSU 12, U-Mary 6

U-Mary scored two runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the bottom of the second without recording a hit. The Blue Hawks plated three in the top of the second inning and four in the top of the fourth inning. The Marauders answered back scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth. DSU would go on to add three runs in sixth and two in the second to get the victory 12-6.

Sagan Osborne was 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI's while Jake Young went 2-4 with to doubles and two RBI's. Andrew Sampsel added two singles and an RBI. Nathan Demarais and Jacob Hignite each had a hit and three RBI's while Ryan Mitchell added a single in the win.

Travis Rowe picked up the win going seven innings allowing six runs on four hits with eight strikeouts, seven walks and two hit by pitch.

Game 2: DSU 3, U-Mary 2

The Marauders scored their only runs of the game in the first and second innings when they plated one run each inning. The Blue Hawks put together a three run fifth inning and held off U-Mary for the win.

The Blue Hawks were led at the plate by Sagan Osborne who was 2-4 with an RBI. Jacob Cuch added a double while Jake Young added a single and an RBI. Nathan Demarais also picked up an RBI in the win.

Tony Roberts earned the win on the mound going seven innings allowing two runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Jonathan Koessl threw the eighth inning allowing no runs on no hits with two strikeouts. Sean Getchell picked up the save throwing the ninth inning allowing no runs on hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Blue Hawks are now 13-15 overall and open up NSAA play Friday and Saturday in Omaha, NE against #5 Bellevue University. Friday's games are scheduled for 1:00 PM (CDT) and 4:00 PM (CDT). Saturday's games are scheduled for 12:00 PM (CDT) and 3:00 PM (CDT).
