Blue Hawk Baseball finishes 7-3 in Tucson, AZ

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Baseball team finished 7-3 on the spring trip to Tucson, AZ.

Game 1: DSU 11, BCU 1

Box Score

The Blue Hawks scored a run in the first and four in the second before Briar Cliff plated their only run of the game in the third. DSU then added a run in the third and fourth and three in the fifth to win 11-1

TJ McCullough led the Blue Hawks with three hits including a double while Chad Mackay also recorded three hits in the win. Sagan Osborne and Lucas Rissler each added two hits while Dylan Skabo, Trevor Oldham and Jacob Cuch all recorded a hit.

Sean Getchell earned the win allowing one run on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts in four innings. Joey Buchanan tossed two innings in relief allowing no runs on one hit with a walk and two strikeouts. Micquel Robinson threw the last inning allowing no runs on one hit with a strikeout.

Dickinson State finished with 11 runs on 13 hits and no errors while Briar Cliff finished with one run on six hits with four errors.

Game 2: DSU 7, BCU 5

Box Score

Briar Cliff plated four runs in the bottom of the first but the Blue Hawks scored two in the second and third to tie the game. BCU then scored a run in the bottom of the third while DSU once again tied it up with a run in the top of the fourth. Dickinson State would take the lead for good with two runs in the top of the seventh to win 7-5.

Rissler led the Blue Hawks with two hits including a double while Skabo, Osborne, McCullough and Mackay each added two hits. Danny Brescia added a triple in the win.

Jalen Lane picked up a no decision after throwing five innings allowing five runs (4 earned) on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Taylor Dantini picked up the win in relief going one inning allowing no runs on no hits with a walk. Ryan Absher earned the save going one inning allowing no runs on one hit with a walk and two strikeouts.

Dickinson State finished with seven runs on 11 hits with two errors while Briar Cliff finished with five runs on seven hits with two errors.

Game 3: DSU 7, WU 4

Box Score

Waldorf University scored a run in the top of the first but the Blue Hawks scored a run in the second to tie the game. WU then plated three runs in the top of the third before DSU scored a run in the bottom of the third then four in the bottom of the fourth and one in the sixth to win 7-4.

Chad Mackay led the Blue Hawks with three hits while Sagan Osborne added two hits including a double and a homerun. Jacob Cuch added a double and a triple while Trevor Oldham had a double and a single. Dylan Skabo recorded two hits while Lucas Rissler and TJ McCullough each had a hit in the win.

Gabe Lizarraga earned the win going five innings allowing four runs on five hits with four walks and a strikeout. Brock Messer tossed the sixth inning allowing no runs on no hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Ryan Absher picked up the save going one inning allowing no runs on no hits.

Dickinson State finished with seven runs on 14 hits with no errors while Waldorf finished with four runs on five hits with two errors.

Game 4: WU 17, DSU 5

Box Score

DSU scored a run in the first before WU plated four runs in the bottom of the first. DSU and WU would each add a run in the second. Waldorf would then score three in the fourth, seven in the fifth and two in the sixth before DSU scored three in the seventh but Waldorf took the win 17-5.

Skabo, Osborne, Rissler, Cuch, McCullough and Danny Brescia each had a hit in the loss.

Trevor Oldham took the loss going one inning allowing four runs on one hit with three walks. Joey Buchanan threw three innings allowing four runs on three hits with three walks and a strikeout. Taylor Dantini tossed .2 innings allowing three runs on three hits with three walks. Karson Hanosky tossed 1.1 innings allowing three runs on four hits with two walks. Konner Goettsche threw the sixth inning allowing one run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts.

Waldorf finished the game with 17 runs on 14 hits with three errors while Dickinson State finished with five runs on six hits with no errors.

Game 5: OPS 8, DSU 1

Box Score

Oklahoma Panhandle State plated four runs in the fourth before DSU scored a run in the bottom of the fourth. OPS then added a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to beat the Blue Hawks 8-1.

Trevor Oldham led the Blue Hawks with a double while Sagan Osborne, Lucas Rissler, Jacob Cuch and Micquel Robinson each added a hit in the loss.

Nate Demarais took the loss going four innings allowing four runs on no hits with seven walks and a strikeout. Karson Hanosky threw two innings allowing four runs on seven hits. Alex Ross tossed the final inning allowing no runs on no hits with a walk.

Oklahoma Panhandle State finished with eight runs on seven hits with no errors while Dickinson State finished with one run on five hits with two errors.

Game 6: DSU 8, OPS 4

Box Score

OPS took a four run lead after three innings before DSU would score two in the fourth and fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to win 8-4.

Dylan Skabo and Jacob Cuch led the Blue Hawks with three hits each. Micquel Robinson added a double and a triple while Chad Mackay added two hits including a triple. Trevor Oldham recorded two hits while Sagan Osborne added a double and Nate Demarais and Danny Brescia each added a hit in the win.

Ryan Absher picked up the win in relief going five innings allowing one run on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Lucas Rissler started the game going two innings allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Dickinson State finished the game with eight runs on 15 hits with one error while OPS finished with four runs on 10 hits with an error.

Game 7: WC 10, DSU 1

Box Score

The Blue Hawks would score their only run of the game in the top of the first before Westmont College plated two in the first, four in the third, one in the fourth and fifth and two in the eighth to beat DSU 10-1.

Dylan Skabo led the Blue Hawks with two hits while Trevor Oldham, Jacob Cuch, Micquel Robinson and Danny Brescia all recorded a hit in the loss.

Gabe Lizarraga took the loss going five innings allowing eight runs on 11 hits with three walks and a strikeout. Brock Messer tossed one inning allowing no runs on no hits and Jon Koessl tossed two innings allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Westmont finished with 10 runs on 14 hits and two errors while Dickinson State finished with one run on six hits with no errors.

Game 8: DSU 7, MU 6 (10 Innings)

Box Score

DSU scored two in the first and one in the second before Marian University scored a run in the fourth. DSU would add a run in the fourth and fifth but MU would score three in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie the game. In the 10th inning, MU scored the go ahead run in the top of the inning before Jacob Cuch hit a two run walk-off homerun giving the Blue Hawks a 7-6 win.

Sagan Osborne and Dylan Skabo each recorded two hits with a triple while TJ McCullough added two doubles. Cuch finished with a homerun. Danny Brescia added a double while Trevor Oldham and Micquel Robinson each recorded a single in the win.

Sean Getchell picked up a no decision after going six innings allowing four runs (3 earned) on eight hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Jon Koessl earned the win in relief going four innings allowing two runs on two hits with five walks (3 intentional) and a strikeout.

Dickinson State finished with seven runs on 10 hits with four errors while Marian finished with six runs on 10 hits with three errors.

Game 9: DSU 13, MC 2

Box Score

DSU scored three in the second, five in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth before Macalester College scored two in the bottom of the sixth. DSU would add another run in the top of the seventh to win 13-2.

Dylan Skabo led the Blue Hawks going 4-4 while Sagan Osborne and Danny Brescia each added three hits. Jacob Cuch, Alex Ross and Micquel Robinson each added a hit in the win.

Ryan Absher tossed a complete game going seven innings allowing two runs (0 earned) on seven hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.

Dickinson State finished with 13 runs on 13 hits with one error while MC finished with two runs on seven hits with two errors.

Game 10: DSU 14, IIT 5

Box Score

The Blue Hawks would score one in the second, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and three in the sixth before Illinois Institute of Technology plated five runs in the seventh. DSU would then add three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to win 14-5.

Sagan Osborne led the Blue Hawks with three hits including a double while Jacob Cuch added two doubles. Trevor Oldham added a homerun and a double. Danny Brescia added two hits including a triple. Alex Ross added two hits with a double while Nate Demarais, Dylan Skabo, TJ McCullough and Micquel Robinson each added two hits in the win.
