2017 NSAA Baseball All-Conference Teams, Postseason Awards & Gold Glove Team announced

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced its postseason baseball awards Thursday evening in the awards banquet Thursday evening at Valley City Eagles Club.

The North Star Baseball All-Conference teams, postseason awards and Gold Glove team were voted on by the league's coaches.

The NSAA Baseball First-Team All-Conference consists of 18 selections.  The Second Team All-Conference have 17 selections. The league's champion Bellevue (Neb.), who is currently No. 2 in the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, landed a total of 11 selections to the All-Conference teams.  BU have seven recipients listed on the First-Team All-Conference Team.  Mayville State (N.D.) have seven athletes on the All-Conference Teams, followed by Jamestown (N.D.) with six recipients.

Bellevue swept all postseason honors with Derik Bontempo being selected as the North Star Baseball's Player-of-the-Year.  Ben McKendall was tabbed as the Pitcher-of-the-Year for the second straight year.  Colten Barnes was chosen as the Newcomer-of-the-Year.  Duane Monlux was honored as the Coach-of-the-Year after guiding the Bruins to their second consecutive NSAA's Baseball Regular-Season Conference title, completing the 2017 NSAA conference season with a 23-1 record.

BU earned the league's first automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round.  Bellevue is one of the nine NAIA's hosts for the national tournament's opening round later in May.

NSAA's second automatic bid will be determined in the conference postseason tournament this weekend.  If the Bruins won the conference tournament, the runner-up team will receive the automatic bid to the national tournament.
