2015-16 DSU Football Seniors Recognized at Senior Luncheon; Bohn Named Harry J. Weinbergen Male Athlete of the Year

DICKINSON, ND- The 2015-16 Dickinson State University Football seniors were recognized Wednesday at the DSU Athletic Senior Luncheon hosted by the Blue Hawk Athletic Department. Meyer Bohn was also named Harry J. Weinbergen Male Athlete of the Year.

Seniors in attendance were Colten Johnston and Sefa Fatu.

Johnston #42 was a Linebacker and Long Snapper from Miles City, MT. He was a four year starter at long snapper and Academic All-Conference. 

Fatu #44 was a Defensive Tackle from Sacramento, CA. He was a two year starter at defensive tackle and All-Conference in 2015.

Representing Meyer Bohn was his sister, Kayla. Bohn #54 was an Offensive Lineman from Bismarck, ND. He was a three time NAIA scholar athlete, a two time All- conference selection and was selected to the first team all American as a center in 2015.

Seniors unable to attend were Matt McCoy, Riley Moore, Awa Poggi, Willie Cunningham, Lane Millay, Josh Perry-Kruse and Michael Hernandez.

McCoy #20 was an OLB from Plentywood, MT. He was a three year starter and All -Conference selection in 2015. 

Moore #23 was a RB from Casper, WY. He was in the program for four years and a NAIA scholar athlete. 

Poggi #25 was a DB from Waiamanolo, HI. He was a two year starter and All conference in 2014 and 2015.  

Cunningham #27 was a DT from San Jacinto, CA and was in the program for two years. 

Millay #67 was an OL from Casper, WY. He was a three year starter at offensive line and All-Conference in 2015. 

Perry-Kruse #80 was a WR from Honolulu, HI. He was a starter at Wide Receiver and the kicker in 2015. 

Hernandez #99 was a DT from Panorama City, CA and was a two time All-Conference selection on the defensive line. 

HARRY J. WIENBERGEN AWARD

The Harry J. Wienbergen Award is presented annually to the outstanding male athlete of the year at Dickinson State University.  From 1927 until his retirement in 1966, Harry Wienbergen served as teacher, coach and athletic director at Dickinson State University.  He was known as a gentleman with high moral and ethical standards and believed strongly in true sportsmanship on his teams.

It is in his honor that we present the 2015-16 Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year award to an outstanding senior who has represented Dickinson State University.

Meyer Bohn was a 2 Time All-Conference Selection in Football, a 4 Time Academic All-American in Wrestling & Football and a 1st All-American in Football. He was an Environmental Science Major with Minors in Chemistry & Earth Science. Bohn is from Bismarck, ND.

Accepting on behave of Meyer who is enrolled in Grad School at NDSU, was his sister Kalya.
