Cain Boschee and Cody Johnson Named Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Players-of-the-Week

MADISON, S.D. – The seventh edition of the Dacotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Football Players-of-the-Week was announced by the conference office Monday.  Logan Weisser of Presentation (S.D.) was named Offensive Player-of-the-Week.  Cain Boschee of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected as Defensive Player-of-the-Week, while his teammate Cody Johnson was chosen as Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.

NSAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Logan Weisser – Presentation (S.D.) – 6'0" – 210 lbs., Sophomore – wide receiver – Frederick, S.D. – Weisser had an outstanding game for Presentation (S.D.) as he caught six receptions – with four receptions recorded as a touchdown – for a total of 165 yards in 34-24 road victory at Jamestown (N.D.).  It marked the first victory for Saints over the Jimmies in the series meeting history.  Weisser recorded touchdown catches of 22-, 65-, 30- and 35-yards for Presentation. 

NSAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Cain Boschee – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'3" – 185 lbs., Sophomore – defensive back – Kalispell, Mont. – Boschee recorded seven solo tackles and two interceptions in helping No. 14-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) remain undefeated in North Star conference play with a 49-20 road victory at Waldorf (Iowa).  He had two interceptions, one he returned 99 yards for a touchdown.  

NSAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Cody Johnson – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 5'10" – 200 lbs., Freshman – kicker – Sidney, Mont. – Johnson made all seven PAT extra-point kicks as No. 14-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) registered a 49-20 NSAA road conference victory at Waldorf (Iowa).  He also recorded seven kick-offs for a total of 414 yards (59.1 yards per kickoff).

Recap from Saturday's games
The Dacotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Football Game-of-the-Week featured a pair of teams searching for the first conference victory of the season.  Jamestown (N.D.) returned home after their two-game road trip, hosting Presentation (S.D.).  The Jimmies opened up with a 9-0 lead in the first quarter before the Saints went on to score 21 straight points for a 21-9 halftime lead.  UJ trimmed PC's lead to 21-16 to start the third quarter, but Presentation scored 13 straight points to expand their lead to 34-16.  The Jimmies scored nine points in the final quarter, but the Saints held on to win by the score of 34-25.  Presentation took advantage of Jamestown's four interceptions and four fumbles in the game.  PC outgained UJ 330-307 in total offensive yards.  PC raised their overall record to 4-1 and 1-1 North Star conference record, while UJ lost their fourth straight game and dropped their overall record to 1-5 and 0-2 NSAA.

No. 14-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) remained undefeated in North Star conference play with a 49-20 victory, despite being outgained by Waldorf (Iowa) in Forest City, Iowa.  The Warriors piled up 505 total offensive yards with 34 first-downs compared to the Blue Hawks' 382 offensive yards with 16 first-downs.  WU committed four interceptions in the game and one fumble.  Dickinson State held on to a 7-6 slim first quarter lead and pulled away after outscoring Waldorf 42-14 in the last three quarters.  The Blue Hawks won their fifth straight game to raise their overall record to 5-1 and 3-0 NSAA conference record.  The Warriors lost their fifth straight game and fell to 1-6 overall record and 0-3 North Star.

A tale of two halves featured in the Valley City State (N.D.) at Mayville State (N.D.) conference game in Mayville, N.D.  The Vikings opened up with a 21-0 lead in the first-half before the Comets scored 15 points in the second-half, giving VCSU a 21-15 victory.  Valley City State took advantage of Mayville State's four interceptions and one fumble in the game.  MSU outgained VCSU 407-341 in total offensive yards.  The Vikings are 3-3 overall record and 2-1 NSAA conference record while the Comets dipped their overall record to 2-3 and 0-1 NSAA.

Dakota State (S.D.), ranked No. 18 in the latest NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 national poll, was idle last week.  The Trojans is currently on a four-game winning streak with a 5-1 overall record and 2-0 North Star conference record.

Looking Ahead
Mayville State (N.D.) remains home as they host Waldorf (Iowa) as both teams are searching for their first NSAA conference victory of the season on Saturday.  Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. in Mayville, N.D.

Presentation (S.D.) returns home as they play their homecoming football game versus Finlandia (Mich.) with a 1 p.m. kick-off in Aberdeen, S.D. on Saturday.

Jamestown (N.D.) heads to No. 14-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) for a 2 p.m. (Central Time)/1 p.m. (Mountain Time) kick-off on Saturday.  Also on Saturday, No. 18-ranked Dakota State (S.D.) takes on Valley City State (N.D.) with a 4 p.m. starting game time.
