Blue Hawk Football Drops Four Spots in Latest 2016 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Dickinson State University Football team dropped to #16 following Saturday's 33-20 loss to NCAA D2 Black Hills State University, the national office announced Monday. The ninth installment is scheduled to release on Nov. 7.

The Blue Hawks fell from #12 to #16 in the latest 2016 NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 poll.

Dickinson State was also named the 2016 NSAA Football Conference Champions with losses by Valley City State and Dakota State on Saturday. This is the second year in a row that the Blue Hawks have won the NSAA Football Regular Season Championship.

The Blue Hawks have one remaining NSAA game this weekend when they travel to Mayville State University to take on the Comets at 12:00 PM (MDT) before finishing the 2016 regular season on November 12th at the University of Jamestown in a non-conference game.

Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences.
• Each conference is given one rater for every four schools in the league.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 25 points for each first-place vote, 24 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
