DICKINSON, ND – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team soar to a 82-69 North Star Athletic Association win over the Bellevue University Bruins on Friday night behind a great overall team effort.
The Blue Hawks lead Bellevue University at halftime with a score of 39-34 and the Blue Hawks outscored the Bruins in the second half with a 43-35 score to win the contest with a final score of 82-69.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 20 points. Juniors Ryan Clark, Jerry Shevlin and Terrell Butler also scored in double digits for the Blue Hawks. Marcus White led the Blue Hawks with 10 total rebounds. Senior Dontae Clark and junior Terrell Butler also grabbed 6 total rebounds each for the Blue Hawks in the win. Jerry Shevlin led the Blue Hawks with a total of 8 assists for the game.
Bellevue University was led by BJ Shelton with 20 points while Nick Hilton added 15 points. Mike Cardenas hauled in 8 rebounds for the Bruins.
Dickinson State shot 56 percent from the field, 28 percent from three and 77 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 41 rebounds, 18 assists, 6 blocks, 5 steals and 11 turnovers.
Bellevue University 38 shot percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 22 percent from the free throw line. The Bruins recorded a total of 38 rebounds, 7 turnovers, 9 assists and 3 steals.
The Bruins fall to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks are now 8-4 and 3-0 NSAA. The Blue Hawks next contest will be on Wednesday, December 14th as they host North Star opponent Dakota State University at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
