BILLINGS, MT – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team fell to nationally ranked Montana Western University on Thursday night on the campus of Rocky Mountain College in the 2016 Green and Gold Classic.
The Blue Hawks trailed Montana Western at halftime with a score of 24-38 and the Blue Hawks were outscored by the Bulldogs in the second half with a 37-45 score to lose the contest with a final score of 61-83.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by senior Reggie Fields Jr. with 19 points. Junior Ryan Clark also scored 18 points for the Blue Hawks. Senior Dontae Clark led the Blue Hawks with 7 total rebounds. Reggie Fields Jr. also pulled down 6 total rebounds for the Blue Hawks. Dontae Clark led the Blue Hawks with a total of 6 assists for the game.
Montana Western University was led by sophomore guard Kooper Kidgell with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals. Junior Dom Robinson contributed 19 points and 3 assists and senior Shyke Smalls also contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds for the Bulldogs in the win.
Dickinson State shot 44 percent from the field, 16 percent from three and 44 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 5 blocks, 7 steals and 18 turnovers.
Montana Western University shot 48 percent from the field, 26 percent from three and 76 percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs recorded a total of 38 rebounds, 2 blocks, 13 turnovers, 13 assists and 8 steals.
The Montana Western Bulldogs with the win climb to record of 12-1 overall and 2-0 in Frontier Conference play.
The Blue Hawks are now 9-5 and 4-0 NSAA. The Blue Hawks will play host school Rocky Mountain College next in the final game of the 2016 Green and Gold Classic on December 30th, 2016 at 7:30p.m. (MDT). The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017 as they host non-conference opponent Trinity Bible College at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
