DICKINSON, ND – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team soared to a 117-60 non-conference win over the Oglalla Lakota College Bravehearts on Wednesday night behind a great overall team effort.
The Blue Hawks lead Oglalla Lakota College at halftime with a score of 64-22 and the Blue Hawks outscored the Bravehearts in the second half with a 53-38 score to win the contest with a final score of 117-60.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 17 total points. Senior Reggie Fields Jr. chipped in 15 points and seniors RJ Magar and Brandon Jamar contributed 14 points each. Senior Brandon Jamar lead the Blue Hawks with 11 total rebounds. Junior Terrell Butler grabbed an additional 6 rebounds for the Blue Hawks. Junior Jerry Shevlin led the Blue Hawks with a total of 9 assists for the game.
Oglalla Lakota College was led by James Pine with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Carl Swallow added 15 points and 3 rebounds for Oglalla. Darryl Looks Twice also hauled in 4 rebounds for Oglalla.
Dickinson State University shot 54 percent from the field, 32 percent from three and 85 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 54 rebounds, 28 assists, 8 blocks, 10 steals and 10 turnovers.
Oglalla Lakota College shot 38 percent from the field, 27 percent from three and 43 percent from the free throw line. Oglalla Lakota College recorded a total of 30 rebounds, 23 turnovers, 8 assists and 5 steals.
The Blue Hawks are now 12-7 and 4-2 NSAA. The Blue Hawks next contest will be on Friday, January 13th, 2017 as they travel to Aberdeen, South Dakota to face North Star conference opponent Presentation College.
The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Friday, January 20th, 2017 as they host North Star conference rival Valley City State University at 7:30 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
