DICKINSON, ND – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team fought their way to a 99-96 North Star Athletic Association overtime win over the Waldorf Warriors on Saturday night behind a great overall team effort.
The Blue Hawks trailed the Warriors at halftime with a score of 33-35 and the Blue Hawks outscored the Warriors in the second half 54-52 and the Blue Hawks outscored the Warriors in overtime with a 12-9 score to win the contest with a final score of 99-96.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 21 total points. Junior Terrell Butler chipped in 18 total point and seniors Reggie Fields Jr. and Dontae Clark contributed 17 and 12 points for the Blue Hawks. Marcus White led the Blue Hawks with 14 total rebounds. Senior Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. also pulled down 8 total rebounds for the Blue Hawks in the win. Junior Jerry Shevlin led the Blue Hawks with a total of 4 assists for the game.
Waldorf University was led by senior guard June Prowell with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Junior guard Falmata Tula added 18 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists for the Warriors.
Dickinson State shot 50 percent from the field, 38 percent from three and 63 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 46 rebounds, 13 assists, 7 blocks, 9 steals and 14 turnovers.
Waldorf University shot 51 percent from the field, 45 percent from three and 75 percent from the free throw line. The Warriors recorded a total of 36 rebounds, 3 blocks, 15 turnovers, 16 assists and 8 steals.
The Waldorf University Warriors fall to 9-13 overall and 5-4 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks are now 16-7 overall and 8-2 in NSAA play. The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Friday, January 27th, 2017 as they host North Star Athletic Association opponent Viterbo University at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
