Blue Hawks earn share of NSAA regular season championship with win over Saints

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Blue Hawks have won a share of the 2016-17 NSAA Regular Season Championship after defeating the Presentation College Saints, 86-73, on Saturday night.

This is the first conference championship for the Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team since the 2000-01 season.

Dickinson State took a 40-34 lead into halftime and followed that up with a 46-39 second half to win their final regular season game by a score of 86-73 over Presentation College.

The Blue Hawks shot 44 percent from the field, 26 percent from three and 72 percent from the line while the Saints shot 39 percent from the field, 56 percent from three and 72 percent from the line.

Dickinson State had three players finish with double-doubles. Reggie Fields Jr. and Marcus White both finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win for the Blue Hawks.

Presentation College was led by Donnell Minton with 30 points and 12 rebounds while Elijah Valdez finished with 30 points for the Saints in the loss.

The Blue Hawks finish the regular season with a 20-10 overall record and a 11-5 NSAA record.

Presentation College finishes the regular season with a 10-17 overall record and a 4-12 NSAA record.

Dickinson State, Bellevue and Jamestown all share the 2016-17 NSAA Men's Basketball Regular Season Championship with a 11-5 NSAA record.

Dickinson State will host an opening round game on Thursday, February 23rd with their opponent TBD. Game time will be 7:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
