White Receives Second Player of the Week Honor

MADISON, S.D. – Marcus White of Dickinson State (N.D.) was chosen to the tenth edition of the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Marcus White – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'6" – Senior – Forward – Milwaukee, Wis.– White poured in 29 points in helping Dickinson State (N.D.) with a 70-69 come-from-behind road victory at Bellevue (Neb.).  He was 12-of-18 from the field (66.7 percent), including a perfect 3-of-3 from the 3-point line.  He also converted both free-throw attempts.  White had four rebounds, two blocks, two steals and an assists in Blue Hawks' lone North Star conference contest during the week.

Dickinson State (N.D.), receiving votes in the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, came from behind on the road to defeat Bellevue (Neb.) on Jan. 12.  The Blue Hawks won by the score of 70-69 in their lone North Star contest for the week.  Dickinson State lifted their overall record to 10-6. 

Mayville State (N.D.) cracked into the NAIA's Top 25 national poll at No. 22, dropped the North Star contest on the road at Bellevue on Jan. 13.  The Bruins defeated the Comets by the score of 84-67.  MSU (defeated Trinity Bible, N.D. 78-35 on Jan. 9) is 12-4 overall record, while BU is 12-9 overall record.

Waldorf (Iowa) defeated Dakota State (S.D.) at home on Jan. 13 by the score of 83-63.  The Warriors moved to .500 with an overall record of 10-10.

Viterbo (Wis.) completed a weekend home sweep last weekend, defeating the Trojans by the score of 68-59 on Jan. 12.  The V-Hawks also defeated Valley City State (N.D.) 64-45 on Jan. 13.  VU raised their overall record to 12-8.  Dakota State, who defeated their in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) 79-64 on Jan. 9, is 9-12 overall record.  Valley City State fell to 7-13 overall record.

Jamestown (N.D.), receiving votes in the national poll, won their fifth straight game after defeating Presentation (S.D.) 109-88 on Jan. 13.  The Jimmies lifted their overall record to 14-5.  The Saints are 8-11 overall record.

Dickinson State (6-1 NSAA conference record) is holding a half-game lead over Mayville State (6-2 NSAA record) in the North Star conference standings.  Waldorf is third with 5-3 record, followed by Jamestown fourth with 4-3 record.  Bellevue and Viterbo are in a two-way tie for fifth with 4-4 record.  Dakota State is seventh with 3-5 record, while Presentation is eighth with 2-6 record.  Valley City State is ninth with 1-7 NSAA conference record.

Looking Ahead This Week
Presentation (S.D.) is scheduled to play a make-up exhibition game Monday (tonight) at NCAA Division II Northern State (S.D.).

The North Star Athletic Association conference kicks off the second-half portion of the schedule this weekend.  On Friday, Dakota State (S.D.) visit Presentation while Viterbo (Wis.) remains at home versus Bellevue (Neb.).  Jamestown (N.D.) welcomes Dickinson State (N.D.).  No. 22 Mayville State (N.D.) returns home to take on Valley City State (N.D.).

On Saturday, VCSU travels to PC; Waldorf (Iowa) heads to Viterbo; UJ hosts DaSU and MSU welcomes DiSU.
