MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has announced its final edition of the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor Tuesday. Ty Malone of Dickinson State (N.D.) was named to Field Athlete-of-the-Week while Matt Young of Jamestown (N.D.) was chosen to Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Ty Malone – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Junior – Robertson, Wyo. – Malone earned the Most Valuable Field Performer honor at the NSAA Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships after claiming a pair of titles. He won the weight throw title with a measurement of 14.75 meters (48 feet, 4.75 inches) for the Blue Hawks. Malone tossed 13.81 meters (45 feet, 3.75 inches) to win the men's shot put. He scored 20 points in the conference meet.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Matt Young – Jamestown (N.D.) – Freshman – Woodland, Wash. – Young won a pair of individual titles at the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Indoor Track & Field conference meet. He claimed the 1-mile run with a time of 4 minutes, 28.28 seconds. He also captured the 800-meters title in 1:58.56. Young earned a runner-up in the 3000-meter run, clocking a time of 9 minutes, 21.65 seconds. He scored a total of 28 points in the conference meet for the Jimmies, earning the Most Valuable Track Athlete honor at the conference meet.
The NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships take place at the David E. Walker at Gentry Field in Johnson City, Tenn. on March 3-5.
