GULF SHORES, AL- Five members of the Dickinson State University Men's Track & Field team competed at the 2016 NAIA National Outdoor Championships last weekend and were led by Sease's 12th place finish in the Decathlon.
Tommy Sease finished 12th in the decathlon with 6,155 points. Sease ran the 100 meter dash 11.89 seconds and jumped 18' 7" in the long jump. He threw 37' 4" in the shot put, jumped 6' in the high jump and ran the 400 in 52.29 seconds. Sease ran the 110-meter hurdles in 16.75 seconds and threw the discus 118' 2". Tommy finished with a height of 12' 6" in the pole vault, threw the javelin 129' 3" and ran the 1,500 meters in 4:32.97.
Eddie Meneses was 27th in the men's marathon in 3:01:01.
Beau Ackerman finished 19th in the men's javelin with a throw of 169' 9.25".
Jose Chorro took 20th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92 seconds.
Jay Liggins jumped 23' 1" in the long jump but missed the final round by 5".
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that 302 men's indoor & outdoor track & field student-athletes have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Representing Dickinson State was Ty Malone from Robertson, Wyoming.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
