Stanton & Chorro named NSAA Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its first installment of the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday.  Dickinson State (N.D.) swept the first weekly honors with Ty Stanton of Dickinson State (N.D.) as Field Athlete-of-the-Week and Jose Chorro as Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

North Star Athletic Association Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Ty Stanton – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Freshman – Jordan, Mont. – Stanton hit a national qualifying mark in the men's triple jump at the NCAA Division II Black Hills State (S.D.) Yellow Jacket Open.  He leaped a measurement of 14.34 meters (47 feet, .75 inches) to win the triple jump title for Dickinson State (N.D.).  Stanton also recorded a long jump measurement of 6.61 meters (21 feet, 8.5 inches) to finish fifth in the event.

Jose Chorro – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Sal Salvador, El Salvador – Chorro hit the national qualifying standard in the men's 110-meter high hurdles at the NCAA Division II Black Hills State (S.D.) Yellow Jacket Open.  He captured the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.75 seconds for Dickinson State (N.D.). 

Looking Ahead
Dakota State (S.D.) is scheduled to compete in the NCAA Division II meet in Marshall, Minn., the Southwest Minnesota State Open on Friday and Saturday.

Waldorf (Iowa) heads to Missouri for a pair of track meets – the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis on Friday and John Creer Invitational in St. Charles, Mo. on Saturday.

Viterbo (Wis.) will open their outdoor track & field season on Saturday as they head to Winona, Minn. for the Dingels Brueggen Invitational. 

Dickinson State (N.D.), Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) won't return back to action until April 8 in the Al Bortke Open, hosted by NCAA Division II University of Mary (N.D.) in Bismarck.
