Ty Stanton named NSAA Field Athlete of the Week

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its fourth edition of the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday.  Ty Stanton of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected as Field Athlete-of-the-Week.  Mark Moeller of Dakota State (S.D.) was chosen as Track Athlete-of-the-Week.  Both Stanton and Moeller were honored as the conference's athlete-of-the-week for the second time this season.

Ty Stanton – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Freshman – Jordan, Mont. – Stanton of Dickinson State (N.D.) hit the 'A' standard in both the long jump and triple jump at the Blue Hawks Games.  He claimed the triple jump title mark of 14.54 meters or 47 feet, 9.25 inches, which ranks him sixth-best triple jump in the NAIA.  Stanton also added a runner-up honor in the long jump with a measurement of 7.18 meters or 23 feet, 6.75 inches.

Mark Moeller – Dakota State (S.D.) – Senior – Rosholt, S.D. – Moeller earned a runner-up honor in the men's 800-meter run for Dakota State (S.D.) at the Red Raider Invitational in Orange City, Iowa.  He clocked a time of 1 minute, 56.36 seconds in the race, which was just less than three seconds short of qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor Track Nationals.  Moeller was also an anchor for the Trojan men's 4 x 400-meter relay, which finished fourth with a time of 7 minutes, 52.88 seconds (just less than four seconds short of producing national qualifying time).    

Looking Ahead
Dakota State (S.D.) and Jamestown (N.D.) will be competing in the Sioux City (Iowa) Relays on Friday and Saturday.

Dickinson State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) head to Fargo, N.D. Friday and Saturday for the Lyle Hokanson Classic.

Viterbo (Wis.) competes in the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wis. on Friday.

On Saturday, Waldorf (Iowa) is scheduled to travel to Grinnell, Iowa for the Dick Young Invitational.
