Blue Hawks Picked 2nd in NSAA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Preseason Poll

MADISON, S.D. – The Dickinson State University Men's Cross Country team is picked to finish 2nd in the 2016 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA), the coaches' preseason poll was announced Monday.  The preseason poll was voted by the league's head coaches.

Waldorf received two first-place votes and totaled 32 points for first place in the preseason poll.  Dickinson State (N.D.) earned the other four first-place votes and collected 30 points to finish second in the poll.

The Blue Hawks dominated the NSAA Men's Cross Country conference meet title in Madison, S.D. last season by recording 24 points.  Waldorf was second with 71 points in the conference meet.

Jamestown (N.D.) earned 21 points for third place in the poll, followed by Dakota State (S.D.) fourth with 17 points.  Viterbo (Wis.) was fifth with 14 points, while Valley City State (N.D.) was sixth with 12 points.

The NSAA Cross Country Conference Championship meet will be held in Dickinson, N.D. on Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. (Central Time)/11 a.m. (Mountain Time).  The team winner of the conference meet will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championships in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 19.
