Transfer from Northwest College (WY) Dan Lavy signs with Men's Cross Country

DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Head Cross Country Coach, Ben Shroyer, is pleased to announce the signing of Dan Lavy.

Dan is from Bridger, Montana and currently attends Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming.

"I fell in love with the campus when I came for a visit and decided that being a Blue Hawk would be as close to family as I could find anywhere," said Lavy.

Lavy was a 2x MHSA State Cross Country Championships 'Class C' Qualifier, his highest finish of 7th place in 2014, 3x MHSA State Track & Field Championship 'Class C' Qualifier in 800, 1600, 3200 and he placed 10th in the 3200m run at the 'Class C' State Track Meet in 2013 and 2015.

Dan's personal records: 3 mile (XC)- 16:16, 800- 2:06, 1600- 4:50 and 3200- 10:23.

Lavy plans to major in Rangeland Management at Dickinson State University and is the son of Mike & Susan Lavy.

"I am excited to announce our first male signee for 2017," stated Shroyer. "Dan will do some great things for our growing program. I was recruiting Dan out of high school before he attended Northwest College (WY) the past two years. We have kept in touch and he has continued to train and run in some open races including a few triathlons. Dan is excited to compete at the collegiate level and he brings a 3.4 transfer GPA to our program. I look for Dan to focus on the 5k/10k distances on the track. Dan comes from a small high school program, but his work ethic and determination to get better impressed me when we visited. I am excited to see what Dan can do in the 8k this fall for the Blue Hawks!"
