#15 Blue Hawks Sweep NCAA DII Black Hills State University in Double Dip

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Softball team defeated Black Hills State University in both games of a double-header on Tuesday at the North Softball Complex.

Game 1: DSU 7, BHSU 1

The Blue Hawks took the lead in the first inning after putting up a four spot and never looked back. DSU also scored a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings while the Yellowjackets were able to push a run across in the sixth inning but fell the #15 Dickinson State 7-1.

Alex Vargas led the Blue Hawk hitters going 3-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI's. Brianna Grayson added two hits including a double and two RBI's while McKenzie Kenobbie was 2-3 and McKennzie Bassett was 2-3 with two RBI's. Brenda Cruz was 1-3 with an RBI, Shannen Donnelly was 1-2 with an RBI and Monique Yslas added a hit in the win.

Amanda Flores earned the win going six innings allowing one run on 10 hits with one walk and one strikeout while Abigail Brooks tossed one inning allowing no runs on no hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Game 2: DSU 6, BHSU 3

Black Hills State took an early lead after scoring three runs in the top of the first inning but that would be the only inning they would score in the game. The Blue Hawks plated two runs in the second, one in the third and three in the fifth to get the victory 6-3.

Bassett led the Blue Hawks going 2-2 with a double and an RBI. Kennobbie, Yslas and Whitney Mesi each had a hit and an RBI in the game while Donnelly added a single in the win.

Brooks did not record an out in the first inning allowing two runs on two hits. Alexzandria Watson took over in the first to throw seven innings allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts to earn the win for the Blue Hawks.

Dickinson State is now 28-7 overall and 9-1 in NSAA play.

The Blue Hawks pick back up with NSAA play as they travel to Mayville State University this weekend to play the Comets in a four game series. Game one on Saturday is set for 1:00 PM (MDT) and game one on Sunday is set for 11:00 AM (MDT).
