#16 Blue Hawk Softball Takes Two NSAA Games From Jimmies

JAMESTOWN, ND- The Dickinson State University Softball team defeated the University of Jamestown twice on Saturday, 2-0 and 7-4. Sunday's games in Dickinson are re-scheduled for this Thursday, April 28th.

Game 1: DSU 2, UJ 0 (11 Innings)

In a pitching dual between Alexzandria Watson of Dickinson State and Brittany Rheault of Jamestown, neither team was able to score a run through 10 innings. Although the Blue Hawks were able to produce nine hits in the game to the Jimmies two hits, it wasn't until the top of the 11th when the Blue Hawks plated two runs to take game one with a score of 2-0.

Alex Vargas led the Blue Hawk hitters going 3-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI while Shannen Donnelly also added a double in the win. Morgan Glowa added a hit and a run scored while McKenzie Kenobbie, Monique Yslas, McKenna Kostelecky and McKennzie Bassett all added a hit in the Blue Hawk victory.

Watson tossed a complete game going 11 innings allowing no runs on two hits with 14 strikeouts.

Game 2: DSU 7, UJ 4

Unlike game one, both teams plated a run in the first inning. The Blue Hawks would score four in the fourth and the Jimmies would answer in the bottom of the fourth with three runs. DSU would add to their lead in the top of the seventh by scoring two runs to take game two with a score of 7-4.

Vargas would once again lead the Blue Hawk hitters going 3-4 with a double, a run scored and five RBI's. Glowa was 2-3 with a run scored while Kenobbie added a hit and two runs scored. Yslas finished the game with a hit and a run scored while Brianna Grayson also added a hit in the win.

Abigail Brooks picked up the win going 3.1 innings allowing four runs (3 earned) on four hits with two walks. Amamnda Flores tossed 2.2 innings in relief allowing no runs on two hits with a strikeout. Watson came in to earn the save after throwing one inning allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.

Dickinson State is now 36-7 overall and 15-1 in NSAA play.

The Blue Hawks are scheduled to play the Jimmies on Thursday, April 28th with game one starting at 1:00 PM (MDT) at the North Softball Complex in Dickinson.
