Blue Hawk Softball finishes season at NSAA tournament

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University softball team lost their first two games of the conference tournament to end their season last Friday.

Opening Round: VCSU 9 DSU 1

The opening round game of the NSAA softball tournament between the Dickinson State Blue Hawks and the Valley City State Vikings looked to be a real nail-biter. However, the Vikings used an 8 run 5th inning to stun the host Blue Hawks 9-1.

The Blue Hawks managed only 3 hits on the day coming on singles from Andrea Rodriguez and McKenzie Kenobbie and a triple from Hanna Andrysiak.

Abigail Brooks took the loss going 4.2 innings and allowing 4 runs on 11 hits. Jalen Creech threw the final out for the Blue Hawks allowing 5 runs (3 ER) on 1 hit.

The final line score for the Blue Hawks showed 1 runs on 3 hits with 7 errors. The Vikings scored 9 runs on 11 hits and committed 0 errors.

Elimination Game: PC 3 DSU 0

Dickinson State looked to continue its season in an elimination game against the Presentation College Saints, but ran into a stellar pitching performance and fell 3-0 to end their tournament hopes.  

No Blue Hawk hitter managed more than one hit, and none went for extra bases, with McKenzie Kenobbie, Andrea Rodriguez, Hanna Andrysiak, Abigail Brooks, and McKenzie Bassett all providing singles.

Jalen Creech took the loss for the Blue Hawks allowing 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Abigail Brooks closed out the final 5.2 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits.  

DSU scored 0 runs on 5 hits and committed 2 errors. PC scored 3 runs on 7 hits and committed 0 errors.
