#25 Blue Hawks Hold Off Saints Comeback on Senior Night, Win 70-64

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated the Presentation College Saints, 70-64, Wednesday night in Scott Gymnasium on Senior Night.

Three Blue Hawk seniors received recognition between the Women's and Men's games for their time spent at Dickinson State University. The three seniors include Janniqua Thomas, Jalyn Klauzer and Tess Blaquiere.

Dickinson State outscored the Saints 19-11 in the first quarter while the Saints outscored the Blue Hawks 20-19 in the second quarter.

The Blue Hawks took a 38-31 lead into halftime while shooting 47 percent from the field and 33 percent from three in the first half. The Saints shot 45 percent from the field and 29 percent from three in the first half.

Dickinson State then outscored Presentation College 20-13 in the third quarter but the Saints fired back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Blue Hawks 20-12 but Dickinson State held on to win 70-64.

Janniqua Thomas led the Blue Hawks with 14 points while fellow senior Jalyn Klauzer added nine points with a game high and career high 19 rebounds.

Kenyetta Fugate led the Saints with 18 points, Klarissa Ayala added 14, Sydney Larson had 11 and Cora Lopez finished with 10 points.

Dickinson State finished the game shooting 41 percent from the field, 26 percent from three and 67 percent from the line with 50 rebounds, 18 assists, 15 turnovers, three blocks and three steals.

Presentation College finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and 71 percent from the line with 31 rebounds, eight assists, 13 turnovers, one block and four steals.

The Blue Hawks are now 20-7 overall and 8-3 in NSAA play while the Saints fall to 6-18 overall and 3-9 in NSAA play.

Dickinson State travels to Dakota State on Saturday to finish up NSAA play when they take on the Trojans. Postseason information will be released early next week.
