DICKINSON ND – The Dickinson State University Women's basketball team defeated Minot State on Wednesday night in Scott Gym by a score of 87 – 75.
In the home opener Dickinson State outscored Minot in every quarter but 4th. After the 1st, it was 27 – 19, in the second quarter not a lot changed as the Lady Blue Hawks scored 27 while Minot was held to 20. Half time score was 54 – 39.
Lady Blue Hawks shot 60 percent from the field and 29 percent behind the arc in the first half.
Dickinson state ended 3rd quarter with the score of 18-17 with still holding up the lead. Then Lady Blue Hawks added another 15 points while Minot had 19. Total score of the game was 87 – 75.
Total shooting for Lady Blue Hawks was 43 from the field, 23 percent behind the three point line and 75 percent on free throws.
The Blue Hawks were led by Megan Klein with 26 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and two steals followed by Taylor Henningsgard with 18 points and 10 assists while Ashley Bentz- Laub added 21 points and eight rebounds with four three pointers. Also a spark from the bench was Paitton Herbst with eight points and seven rebounds.
Dickinson State ended up with 49 rebounds, 17 assists, 12 turnovers and nine steals.
The Blue Hawks are now 1-0 on the season.
