MADISON, SD- The Dickinson State University Women's basketball team defeated Dakota State University on Friday afternoon by a score of 70-59.
The Lady Blue Hawks outscored Dakota in the first quarter 25-16, in the second quarter it was 15-6 for the Lady Trojans ending the half with a score of 31-31 . Dickinson State then outscored Dakota State in the third 17-16 and 22-14 in the fourth quarter for a final score of 70-59.
Total shooting for Lady Blue Hawks was 39 percent from the field, 20 percent from three and 72 percent from the free throw line.
Dakota state shot 37 percent from the field, 22 percent from three and 80 percent from the line.
The Lady Blue Hawks were led by Megan Klein with 19 and Taylor Henningsgard with 17. Megan Klein hauled in 22 rebounds while Lorna Shepherd had game high 5 assists.
Kenedy Wagner led Dakota with 14 points followed by Jaime Tebben with 13.
Dickinson State finished the game with 43 rebounds, 15 assists, 10 turnovers and 10 steals while Dakota finished with 37 rebounds, 15 assists 15 turnovers and 5 steals.
The Blue Hawks are now 21-5 overall and 13-1 NSAA.
The next game for the Lady Blue Hawks is against Jamestown on February 17th at 5:30 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
