Megan Klein named NSAA Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week

MADISON, S.D. – Megan Klein of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected to the fourteenth edition of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor, announced by the conference office Monday.

Megan Klein – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'1" – Senior – Center – Killdeer, N.D. – Klein posted a double-double in No. 21-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) 70-59 road victory at Dakota State (S.D.).  She scored 19 points on her 7-of-11 field goal shooting and 5-of-9 from the free-throw line.  Klein also pulled down 22 rebounds in the game, setting a new school record for career rebounds with 981 rebounds.  She leads the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball in rebounding for the second straight year.

Jamestown (N.D.), who moved up to No. 11 in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national rankings, extended their North Star Athletic Association regular-season winning streak to 30 games (last regular-season North Star conference loss at Valley City State, N.D. on Feb. 7, 2015) after defeating Bellevue (Neb.) 68-37 on Feb. 11.  The Jimmies also defeated Trinity Bible (N.D.) 131-42 on Feb. 7 at home and 101-48 at Grace (Neb.) on Feb. 10.  UJ had won 11 straight games, raising their overall record to 21-4 and holds the sole possession for first-place in the conference standings with a 14-0 record.

No. 21-ranked Dickinson State's (N.D.) continued their red-hot winning streak to 14 games after pulling away past Dakota State (S.D.) 70-59 on Feb. 10.  The Blue Hawks are 21-5 overall record and trails Jamestown for first place by one game with a 13-1 record.

Valley City State (N.D.), receiving votes in the national poll, extended their winning streak to five games after going 2-0 record on their road trip.  The Vikings defeated Bellevue 66-56 on Feb. 10 and Dakota State 69-59 on Feb. 11.  VCSU is third in the conference standings with an 11-3 record, raising their overall record to 20-7.

The Bruins fell to 14-14 overall record and fifth in the North Star conference standings with 7-7 record.  Dakota State is 8-19 overall record.

Mayville State (N.D.) bounced back in the winning column with a pair of home victories last weekend.  The Comets cruised past Viterbo (Wis.) 69-45 on Feb. 10 and Waldorf (Iowa) 77-48 on Feb. 11.  MSU is 14-11 overall record and 8-7 record in the conference, holding a fourth-place in the standings.

Presentation (S.D.) snapped their six-game losing skid with a pair of home victories.  The Saints cruised past the Warriors 83-53 on Feb. 10 and rallied back to defeat the V-Hawks 67-62 on Feb. 11.  PC is 8-18 overall record and is in a two-way tie with Dakota State for sixth-place with a 5-9 NSAA conference record.

Viterbo is 2-27 overall record and 1-14 record in the North Star conference game (8th place).  Waldorf is 2-24 overall record and 0-14 record in NSAA (ninth-place).

Looking Ahead This Week
Mayville State (N.D.) plays their final regular-season home contest Tuesday evening as they host Trinity Bible (N.D.).

Two of the hottest teams in the North Star Athletic Association conference are set to battle on Friday evening between No. 11-ranked Jamestown (N.D.) and No. 21-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.)  The Jimmies are riding an 11-game winning streak, while the Blue Hawks are on a 14-game winning streak.  The game is set for 6:30 p.m. (Central Time)/5:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) in Dickinson, N.D.

Viterbo (Wis.) and Waldorf (Iowa) look to snap their losing skid Friday evening in the North Star conference action in Forest City, Iowa.  The V-Hawks will conclude their regular-season on Friday.

Bellevue (Neb.) travels to Dakota State (S.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) returns home to host Presentation (S.D.) in the other North Star conference action on Friday evening.

The regular-season ends on Saturday with four North Star conference games on schedule.  UJ travels to VCSU, WU hosts BU, DaSU welcomes MSU and PC visits DiSU.

The North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Postseason Conference Tournament pairings will be announced on Sunday afternoon.
