Blue Hawk Women's Track and Field Compete at Northern State Twilight

ABERDEEN, SD- The Dickinson State University Women's Track & Field team competed in the Northern State University Twilight on Friday.

Lorna Shepherd won the 400 meter Dash with a season best time of 59.12.

Abby Honeyman won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.80; which meets the NAIA National "B" Qualifying Standard for the event.

Women's 4x100 (consisted of Megan Dailey, Abby Honeyman, Leslie Beaudoin, and Lorna Shepherd) placed 3rd in the event with a time of 49.53.

Women's 4x400 (consisted of Alysse Charlesworth, Shayna Tonderum, Leslie Beaudoin, Lorna Shepherd) placed 2nd in the event with a time of 4:19.31.

Megan Dailey got 3rd in the High Jump with a mark of 1.55m (5'1"). Dailey also came back and placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.42m (34'2.25").

Alysse Charlesworth won the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.89m (35'8.75").

Whitney Leuenberger placed 2nd in the Discus Throw with a mark of 11.98m (39'3.75") as well as came back with a 3rd place finish in the Shot Put with a mark of 36.32m (119'2").

Macy Vail placed 3rd in the Discus with a season best mark of 36.21m (118'9").

Over the weekend, Paitton Herbst competed in the Heptathlon at the Lyle Hokanson Classic in Fargo, ND; hosted by North Dakota State University.  During the contest, Herbst threw a personal best in the Shot Put with a mark of 7.96m (26'1.5").  Herbst also finished 2nd in the heptathlon 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.88.  Herbst finished 4th with a score of 3626.

"Despite having some wind during the meet, we still walked away with some great performances," stated Coach Chris Creal.  "We had a good amount of season best performances; which is always good to see at this point of the season as it shows training is going in the right direction."  "I am also excited for Abby and Jose for their performances as well as improving their marks for national qualifying time; they have been working hard to make it back to Nationals."
