Brookings, S.D. - Blue Hawk track and field teams see 2 school records broken and 3 qualifiers for nationals in shot put, 400m dash, and women's 4x400m relay.
For the women, Jewel Olson captured first place in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 57.16 seconds, meeting the NAIA "B" standard and ranking her 11th in the NAIA. Mia Handran palced 9th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:41.76. Kaitlyn McColly continued to shine in the 60-meter hurdles, taking second place with a time of 8.77 seconds, also hitting the NAIA "B" mark.
The Blue Hawks' 4x400 relay team of Kyley Barnett, Mia Handran, Kaitlyn McColly, and Jewel Olson finished in fourth place with a time of 3:57.04, earning an NAIA "B" qualification and setting a new school record, ranking them 10th in the NAIA.
In the field events, Madison Wahl had a standout performance in the pole vault, finishing second after clearing 3.60m (11' 9.75"), an NAIA "B" standard. McColly also claimed an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.95m (16' 3").
The throwers dominated as well, with Kori Nagel taking second place in shot put (14.02m, 46' 0") and second in the weight throw (18.08m, 59' 4"), hitting NAIA qualifying marks in both events, breaking her own school record in the weight throw and moving up to 4th in the NAIA. Taylor Laumeyer finished fourth in the shot put (13.77m, 45' 2.25"), second place in the discus with a throw of 44.68m (146' 7"), and ninth in the weight throw (15.54m, 51' 0"). Chloe Gunderson secured fifth in the shot put (13.62m, 44' 8.25") and fifth in the discus (42.40m, 139' 1").
On the men's side, Christian Bowden placed 10th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.95 seconds. Caleb Sarsland had an impressive race in the 5000 meter, finishing 3rd with a time of 15:07.11.
Ty Leischner cleared 1.90m (6'2.75") in the high jump, earning a 6th-place finish. Adrien Calderon secured a 4th-place finish with a vault of 4.40m (14'5.25"), while Gage Glaser placed 7th with a mark of 4.25m (13'11.25").
Nathaniel Woodruff had a stellar performance in the shot put, finishing 2nd with a throw of 16.13m (52'11"), meeting the NAIA 'B' standard. Corbin Harris followed closely in 4th place with a throw of 15.53m (50'11.5"), and Galen Brantley III placed 5th with a mark of 15.35m (50'4.5").
Dickinson State dominated the weight throw, with Dylan Dahlgren finishing 2nd with a mark of 17.99m (59'0.25"), also meeting the NAIA 'B' standard. Corbin Harris took 3rd with a throw of 17.49m (57'4.75"), while Nathan Woodruff placed 10th with a mark of 15.40m (50'6.25").
