Blue Hawk Track and Field Compete at NDSU Spring Invite

Fargo, N.D. - The Blue Hawk track and field teams put together a steady showing at the NDSU Spring Invite, with several athletes earning top-10 finishes and continuing to build momentum as the outdoor season progresses.

On the women's side, senior Kaitlyn McColly led the way with a third-place finish in the 100m hurdles, clocking a time of 14.28 seconds, which ranks No. 8 in the NAIA this season. Junior Kyley Barnett secured eighth place in the 400m hurdles, running a personal record of 1:04.90, good for No. 18 in the NAIA rankings. Sophomore Peyton McLaughlin rounded out the top 10 in the same event with a personal best of 1:07.52. Freshman Mia Handran placed seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:20.85.

In the field events, senior Kori Nagel claimed the top spot in the discus throw with a mark of 45.86m (150-05) and finished seventh in the hammer throw at 51.20m (167-11), which ranks her ninth in the NAIA. Fellow seniors Chloe Gunderson and Rebecca Eacker also made the top five in discus, placing third (44.81m) and fifth (42.68m), respectively. Eacker set a personal best in the event.

Bailey Hofland added an eighth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 37.90m. Gunderson and Eacker also competed in the hammer throw, placing 22nd and 16th, respectively. Nagel also finished third in the shot put (13.92m), with Gunderson right behind in fourth (12.71m). Freshman Codi Nagle continued her strong rookie campaign with a fourth-place finish in the javelin, throwing 40.12m (131-07), which places her 13th in the NAIA. Senior Madison Wahl earned fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.51m (11-06.25).

On the men's side, freshman Christian Bowden earned a ninth-place finish in the 100m dash, clocking 10.85 seconds. In the 200m, freshman Kohbe Smith finished fourth with a time of 21.80, and senior Quentin Lewis placed seventh in 22.05. Lewis also took seventh in the 400m with a season-best time of 50.16.

Senior Corbin Harris led the way in the hammer throw, placing third with a personal-best toss of 56.43m (185-01), meeting the NAIA "B" standard and is now ranked seventh in the NAIA. Junior Dylan Dahlgren followed in fourth (54.25m), while senior Galen Brantley III placed 12th. In the shot put, Brantley and Harris continued to impress, finishing fourth (16.12m) and fifth (15.48m), respectively. Freshman Ty Bennick added an eighth-place finish with a 14.27m mark. Freshman Chase Waters and Maxx Lee placed seventh and tenth, respectively, in the discus throw. Waters marked a personal best of 44.33m (145-05).

The men's pole vault saw sophomore Adrien Calderon take first with a personal-best clearance of 4.75m (15-07.00), putting him at No. 12 in the NAIA. Freshmen Jeremy Harms and Holden Will tied for sixth with clearances of 4.00m (13-01.50). In the javelin throw, freshmen Porter Kreider and Vaughn Miller placed eighth and ninth, respectively, with nearly identical throws of 48.16m and 48.15m.
