Dickinson, N.D. - The Dickinson State golf teams took on Heart River Golf Course for their one and only home tournament of the spring season. Originally scheduled as a two-day event, the DSU Spring Invite was shortened to a single round after inclement weather. The Blue Hawks battled tough conditions throughout the round, with gusty winds and intermittent showers challenging the players.
On the men's side, the Blue Hawks' top team, DSU Blue, tied for first place with the University of Jamestown's top squad, both finishing at +26 (314). Leading the way for the Blue Hawks was Blake Barner, who captured individual medalist honors with a round of 74 (+2). Barner was followed closely by Torrin Ellis and Jayce Johnson, who carded 77 (+5) and 80 (+8), respectively. DSU Gray, the Blue Hawks' second men's squad, also put forth a solid showing, finishing fifth overall at +48 (336).
On the women's side, the Blue Hawks finished second as a team with a combined score of +59 (347). Elly Kapua LeBlanc led the charge, tying for second individually after shooting an 83 (+11). Brooklyn Materi (+14) and Cheyenne Jacobs (+15) also played key roles in the Blue Hawks' runner-up finish. Kiaralynn Weidner and Emma Welch competed as individuals for the Blue Hawks. Weidner finished in 11th place with a round of 92 (+20), while Welch came in 19th with a 103 (+31).
