Valley City, N.D. - The North Star Athletic Association Conference Championships began with the Multi-Event Championships, which contribute directly to the team scoring for the NSAA Conference Championship. Three Blue Hawks took part in the two-day competition.
On the women's side, senior Kaitlyn McColly delivered a strong performance in the heptathlon, finishing first overall with a total of 4,682 points. McColly claimed event wins in the 100-meter hurdles, 800-meter run, and high jump, while also posting top-two finishes in the 200-meter, javelin throw, and shot put.
In the men's decathlon, Garin Opdahl led the way for the Blue Hawks, placing 3rd with 5,822 points. Opdahl's best events included the long jump, pole vault, discus throw, and shot put where he posted event wins. Carl Askins and Cole Skabo rounded out the DSU trio, scoring 4,992 and 4,174 points, respectively. Askins impressed in the 100-meter and 400-meter, while Skabo notched a solid showing in the 110-meter hurdles.
