9 Blue Hawks Set to Compete at Historic 115th Drake Relays

Des Moines, Iowa - Nine DSU track and field athletes are set to take center stage at the 115th Drake Relays, widely regarded as "America's Athletic Classic." Held at Drake Stadium, the Drake Relays is one of the premier track and field meets in the United States, drawing elite athletes from across the country. For the Blue Hawks, this is not just another meet, it's a prestigious opportunity to represent DSU on one of the sport's biggest stages.

Friday's Events

The action begins Friday morning, with a strong presence from DSU's women:

  • Faith Brennan (So.) opens the day in the Triple Jump at 10:00 a.m., competing in Flight 2, 6th in order.

  • Kori Nagel (Sr.) and Taylor Laumeyer (Jr.) step into the ring at 11:00 a.m. for the Women's Discus in Flight 2, throwing 1st and 8th respectively.

  • Madison Wahl (Sr.) will compete in the Pole Vault at 1:00 p.m., Flight 1, 11th in the order.

  • At 1:45 p.m., the Women's Shot Put gets underway with Laumeyer and Chloe Gunderson (Sr.) throwing 3rd and 4th in Flight 1. Nagel returns to throw 7th in Flight 2.

  • Rounding out the day, Jewel Olson (Sr.) runs in the 400 Meters at 5:16 p.m., Heat 3, Lane 8.

Saturday's Events

  • Codi Nagle (Fr.) kicks off Saturday in the Javelin Throw at 10:15 a.m., Flight 1, 11th in the order.

  • At 1:45 p.m., Nagel returns to compete in the Hammer Throw, opening Flight 2.

  • Adarra Hagelund (Jr.) wraps up DSU's weekend at 3:00 p.m. in the High Jump, leading off Flight 1. Hagelund, a Championship Division qualifier, enters with a season-best of 5' 10.75".

     

The Drake Relays are steeped in tradition, and comes with the chance to compete among the nation's best at such a historic meet.
