Spearfish, S.D. - The Blue Hawk rodeo teams competed at the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede, with the women's team earning a third-place finish and the men tying for fifth overall.
Leading the way for the Blue Hawks women was Jaysee Jones, who claimed fourth in the women's all-around standings with 50 points. Jones also placed sixth in breakaway roping (6.7 seconds) and tied for ninth in goat tying. Jenna Hume placed fifth in breakaway roping with a time of 2.4 seconds, while Kelly Bang and Madison Brooks also contributed top-ten finishes in the event. In barrel racing, Presley Powell clocked a time of 33.53 seconds to secure eighth place. Maci Maher tied for fifth in goat tying with a time of 6.4 seconds, further boosting the Blue Hawks' team total of 170 points.
On the men's side, Colton Zubach highlighted the competition by earning second place in team roping (header) with a time of 16.2 seconds, helping the Blue Hawks accumulate 140 points. The DSU men tied with host Black Hills State for fifth place.
