Dickinson State University Launches Powerlifting Program; Hires Will Neel as First Coach

DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State University (DSU) is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever Powerlifting Team, making DSU the first institution in the region to offer the sport at the collegiate level. Leading the program is newly hired Head Coach Will Neel, who has played an instrumental role in building the team's foundation over the past year.

"Over the last year we have built the framework for this team and I am very excited to get it officially rolling," said Neel. "I am grateful for the trust of President Scott Molander to make this happen for Dickinson State."

The DSU Powerlifting Team will train out of The Pit Strength & Fitness in east Dickinson. The Pit is a premier facility specializing in powerlifting equipment and training, while also serving as a fully equipped fitness center open to all abilities and ages 14 and above.

"DSU is excited to be the first in the region to offer Powerlifting at the collegiate level," said DSU President Scott Molander. "This will be an inclusive club where experienced lifters and those looking to establish a strong foundation alike can train and learn together."

The creation of the Powerlifting Team reflects DSU's commitment to providing students with diverse athletic and recreational opportunities, fostering both competitive achievement and lifelong fitness.
