THIS WEEK IN BLUE HAWK WOMEN'S WRESTLING
The DSU women's wrestling team returns to dual competition on Sunday, Jan. 25, traveling north to face Minot State University in Minot, N.D. The dual is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. (MST) start and marks another key regional matchup for the Blue Hawks as they head into the second half of their season.
Dickinson State enters the weekend ranked 19th nationally and seventh in the conference, continuing to build momentum following a challenging stretch of nationally significant competition. The Blue Hawks most recently tested themselves at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where the program made its first appearance at the prestigious event and competed against four nationally ranked opponents. Dickinson State recorded eight individual victories across four duals, gaining valuable experience against elite competition and reinforcing its continued growth on the national stage.
Individually, the Blue Hawks feature a deep and balanced lineup highlighted by several nationally ranked wrestlers. At 110 pounds, Jenna Gerhardt is ranked 12th nationally and fourth in the conference and is coming off a 3-1 showing at the NWCA National Duals. At 117, Jazmine Turner enters ranked eighth nationally and fifth in the conference, while Mikayla Jardine sits 18th nationally and eighth in the conference at the same weight. At 131, Jumoke Adekoye continues to anchor the lineup as the third-ranked wrestler nationally and the top-ranked competitor in the conference. Dickinson State also brings depth throughout the middle and upper weights, with multiple wrestlers holding conference rankings and contributing consistently in dual competition.
RENEWING A REGIONAL SERIES
The Beavers are led by head coach Brittney Mitchem, who has guided the program since its inaugural season in 2022. DSU's middleweights have historically performed well in this dual, and the Blue Hawks will look to repeat the balanced team performance that produced wins of 27-22, 35-14, 39-9 and 35-14 in previous meetings. Minot State enters the dual with three wrestlers ranked in the Region 6 poll, including Alyssa Jones at 124 pounds, Haleigh Lematta at 145 pounds and Aniya Herbin at 207 pounds, each currently ranked fifth in the region.
