BISMARCK, N.D. - Dickinson State earned a 36-8 victory over Bismarck State on Sunday afternoon in a women's wrestling dual scheduled for 1:00 p.m., closing out the regular-season road slate with a strong team performance.
The dual opened at 103 pounds with a double forfeit, keeping the score even before the Blue Hawks gained control in the next two bouts. At 110 pounds, Jenna Gerhardt put Dickinson State on the board with a fall over H. Turner. Gerhardt's pin gave the Blue Hawks an early advantage and set the tone for the remainder of the afternoon. Mikayla Jardine followed at 117 pounds with a fall in 3:58 against Lakota Rogers. The back-to-back pins extended the Dickinson State lead and created separation in the team score.
Bismarck State responded at 124 pounds, where Rei Ogden earned a decision over Birta McCaskill to put the Mystics on the board. The home team added additional points at 131 pounds by forfeit. Dickinson State answered at 138 pounds. Kaitlyn McAnelly secured a fall in 2:56 over Adrian Steidler to halt the momentum and reestablish control of the dual. McAnelly's victory marked the Blue Hawks' third fall of the afternoon. From there, Dickinson State closed out the dual with a series of forfeit wins. The Blue Hawks received victories at 145 pounds from Izzy Davis, 160 pounds from Lacoda Kiser, 180 pounds from Bridgette Price and 207 pounds from Isabella Urias. Those results allowed Dickinson State to widen the margin and seal the 36-8 team result.
In total, the Blue Hawks recorded three falls and four forfeit victories while conceding one contested decision on the mat. The lineup demonstrated balance throughout the weights, capitalizing on bonus-point opportunities and maintaining steady performances in key positions. Dickinson State entered the dual receiving votes nationally and ranked sixth in the conference. Sunday's matchup marked the second meeting between the two programs in series history and provided another late-season test as the Blue Hawks continue preparations for postseason competition.
The road setting did not disrupt Dickinson State's approach. The Blue Hawks carried over the momentum from their recent Senior Night victory and once again emphasized scoring opportunities and minimizing swings in contested bouts. Gerhardt, Jardine and McAnelly provided critical bonus points with their falls, while the upper weights secured valuable team points through forfeits. The collective effort allowed Dickinson State to control the dual from start to finish.
