JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Dickinson State University women's wrestling team earned a 23-19 dual victory over the University of Jamestown on Saturday afternoon at Harold Newman Arena.
The Blue Hawks built an early lead and held off a late rally from the Jimmies to secure the four-point win in Heart of America Athletic Conference competition.
The dual opened with a double forfeit at 103 pounds before Dickinson State capitalized on open weight classes at 110 and 117. Myriam Riley and Rebekah Anderson each received forfeits to give the Blue Hawks an early advantage.
Dickinson State extended its lead with back-to-back technical falls. At 124 pounds, Jazmine Turner defeated Kiera Hagman by 10-0 technical fall in 1:51. Jumoke Adekoye followed with one of the quickest matches of the afternoon, recording a 10-0 technical fall over Abby Ewing in just three seconds at 131 pounds. The pair of technical falls pushed DSU in front 20-0.
Jamestown responded at 138 pounds when Nora Houglum pinned Makenzie Shaw at the 3:25 mark to put the Jimmies on the board. The momentum continued at 145, where Ann Meiman secured a 10-0 technical fall over Izzabella Davis in 1:29.
