GREAT FALLS, Mont.- Dickinson State University women's wrestling faced a nationally ranked test Thursday night, falling 42-4 to the University of Providence in dual action at Great Falls. The Blue Hawks, receiving votes nationally entering the contest, were challenged throughout the lineup by a Providence squad that featured multiple ranked individuals and controlled the team score early.
DSU opened the dual with a forfeit at 103 pounds to giving Providence a 6-0 lead. At 110 pounds, Paige Morales recorded a technical fall over Myriam Riley, extending the Argos' advantage. The momentum continued at 117, where Joely Slyter earned a fall over Mikayla Jardine at the 1:51 mark to push the score to 12-0. At 124 pounds, Alyssa Randles added a technical fall against Jazmine Turner, giving Providence an 18-0 lead through the first four bouts.
Dickinson State responded at 131 pounds, as Jumoke Adekoye delivered the Blue Hawks' lone scoring bout of the night. Adekoye secured a technical fall over Lucia Schlapfer, earning four team points and putting Dickinson State on the board. Providence answered immediately at 138 pounds with Esther Han earning a fall over Kaitlyn McAnelly at 2:04. The Argos continued to add separation at 145, where Elise Twait posted a technical fall over Izzy Davis.
The upper weights remained in Providence's favor. At 160 pounds, Aspen Dodge picked up a first-period fall over Lacoda Kiser in 30 seconds. Kassidy Sigda followed with a fall over Bridgette Price at 180 pounds in 48 seconds. The dual concluded at 207 pounds, where Mckenzie Mills secured a fall over Isabella Urias at 3:27 to finalize the team score. Several additional bouts were contested at select weights following the conclusion of the official dual. Those matches were classified as exhibitions and did not factor into the team score.
