Chelsey Gregg joined the Dickinson State women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2026, bringing extensive NCAA Division I and NAIA coaching experience to the Blue Hawk program.
Before joining Dickinson State, Gregg spent the 2025-26 season at Idaho State University, where she served as associate head coach for the Bengals. Her time at Idaho State added to a coaching background built around recruiting, player development, scouting, academics, program operations and team culture.
Gregg previously spent 10 seasons at Portland State University, including four as head coach from 2021-25. She originally joined the Vikings as an assistant coach in 2015 before being promoted to associate head coach in 2018 and later taking over the program as head coach.
During Gregg’s tenure at Portland State, the Vikings made four Big Sky Conference Tournament semifinal appearances and captured the 2019 Big Sky Tournament championship, earning a berth in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
As head coach, Gregg guided Portland State to the largest year-to-year conference turnaround in program history during the 2022-23 season. After going winless in Big Sky play the previous year, the Vikings improved by eight conference victories and advanced to the Big Sky Tournament semifinals.
Gregg also played an important role in developing numerous All-Big Sky performers during her time at Portland State. Her players earned first-team all-conference recognition, Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors and Big Sky Tournament MVP honors.
Before joining Portland State, Gregg spent two seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Southern Oregon University. During the 2014-15 season, the Raiders finished 27-5, advanced to the NAIA Sweet 16 and climbed as high as No. 8 in the national rankings. In addition to her on-court responsibilities, Gregg assisted with academic monitoring, retention and team travel.
Gregg began her collegiate coaching career at the University of Great Falls, now the University of Providence, where she spent four seasons as an assistant coach. Her responsibilities included recruiting, scouting, player development, academics, scheduling, budgeting and on-court instruction. She also served as the program’s camp director and helped develop two future NAIA All-Americans.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Gregg played at Southern Oregon and was part of one of the most successful teams in program history. The Raiders finished 29-5 during her senior season in 2007-08.
Gregg earned a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education with a minor in Spanish from Southern Oregon in 2009. She later earned a Master of Arts in secondary education from the University of Great Falls in 2011.
Throughout her coaching career, Gregg has emphasized player development, relationship building and helping student-athletes grow on and off the court.
