Dickinson, ND- the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks lose to Dakota State University in third conference game of the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue Hawks got off to a slow start and fell to a 6-11 deficit early in the first quarter. The Blue Hawks continued to struggle to get stops at the bottom of the key and were down 11-25 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Blue Hawks remained down 20-44. Going into halftime the Blue Hawks were shooting 8-31 in field goals and 3-15 from the three-point line. The Blue Hawks were also outrebounded 7-29 to the Trojans.
After halftime, the Blue Hawks came out a lot more aggressive and made it 41-52 with 2:29 left. The Hawks ended the third quarter down 43-59. In the fourth quarter, the Blue Hawks got into foul trouble and ended the game losing 56-81.
TEAM STATS
As a team, the Blue Hawks shot 32.4% (22-68) in field goals, 27% from the three-point line (10-37), and 50% (2-4) from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks had 15 assists total. On defense, the Hawks collected 29 rebounds.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Leading the way on offense was Ashlie Watts with fourteen points. Watts shot 6-14 for field goals. Mackenzie Reed had eight points and Danielle Wallace had seven points. Leading the way in assists was Ashlie Larson with five assists.
On defense, Ashlie Watts and Danielle Wallace both had five rebounds. Dakota Dosch lead the way in steals with three and two blocks.
