Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Blue Hawks drop rematch to Rocky Mountain

DICKINSON - For the second day in a row, the Dickinson State women's basketball team (4-6) was unable to keep up with a sharp-shooting Rocky Mountain College (4-3) team as they fell, 79-48, on Saturday afternoon. The Battlin' Bears outshot the Blue Hawks 50 percent to 34 percent for the game and made ten three-pointers to run away from DSU in a rematch from Friday.

After RMC started the game on an 8-0 run, back-to-back threes by Heather LaBree and Jenna Jacobson brought the Blue Hawks back to within two points early. Samantha Oase scored a minute later to keep the deficit at two, but a 10-4 Bears run put the visitors up 20-12 after one quarter. Rocky Mountain continued to dominate the boards for a second straight day, outrebounding the Blue Hawks 14-5 in the opening ten minutes.

The second quarter saw the Bears extend their lead all the way to 20 points as they shot 9-17, and held Dickinson State to just 3-10, from the field. The second half saw a stronger effort from Dickinson State, especially on the glass, as they were only outrebounded by two (18-16) and shot 7-15 in the fourth quarter.

McKenzie Johnson led all Blue Hawk scorers with eight points, while Oase led the team in rebounds with seven. Lindsay Peterson scored seven points on 3-6 shooting and Kayden Steele added six points off the bench.
