DICKINSON – Josiah Haaland scored in double digits for the third straight game, but Dickinson State fell, 94-64, to #9 University of Jamestown on Tuesday night in their non-conference finale.
The game remained close for most of the first half, after a 6-0 run by Jamestown to start the game caused the Blue Hawks to use their first timeout just two minutes into the game, DSU made it 9-6 with 16:40 left in the half. Jamestown stretched their lead to 10 at 16-6. Jake Daniel knocked down back-to-back shots to bring Dickinson State within eight at 22-14. Both teams struggled to score in the middle of the half, with only one field goal made between the teams from the 10:30 to 6:09 left in the half. The Jimmies maintained their edge for the rest of the half and headed to the break up 40-31.
A Kose Egbule driving score brought DSU to within seven at a minute into the half, but that was as close as they would get, as UJ extended their lead to 30 plus points. Both teams were fairly even in the turnover battle, with DSU turning the ball over 13 times to Jamestown's 12, but UJ was able to turn those turnovers into 20 points while the Blue Hawks managed just seven. Jamestown held a sizeable advantage in rebounding, pulling down 49 in the game and holding Dickinson State to just 26. A 46-26 advantage in points in the paint also went the way of the visitors.
Bradyn Palmer was the only other Blue Hawk to finish in double figures, scoring 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench.
