RIVAL CLASH: It will be a clash of NSAA leaders when the Blue Hawks head to Valley City for a date with the Vikings on Saturday afternoon … both teams come into the game 3-1 overall and 2-0 in North Star play … the two teams also combined to win all three NSAA Player of the Week awards last week, with Dickinson State claiming the Offensive and Special Teams awards and VCSU grabbing Defensive … with each North Star team scheduled to play each other twice in conference the matchup doesn't quite have the title implications it has had in the past, but the winner will be in the drivers' seat to capture the 2023 NSAA Football title and a potential NAIA Opening Round bid

THE SERIES...
vs VCSU: DSU leads 48-35-5
Last: DSU 21-13 / Streak: DSU 5
Notes: Dickinson State has dominated the rivalry in recent years, winning the last five games, and 13 of the last 14, against the Vikings … VCSU has not scored more than 14 points against the Blue Hawks since a 23-22 victory in 2019

SCOUTING THE VIKINGS: Valley City State comes into the week with a 3-1 overall record with each of their three wins coming by one score or less … to highlight the close nature of their season thus far, VCSU is averaging 18.75 points per game while allowing 18.25 … looking deeper into their stats continues to paint an interesting picture as they have been outgained on offense 341 to 286 in yards per game, but have had success with takeaways, collecting 5 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries on the season
