Bellevue, Neb. – Dickinson State got 15 points and 8 rebounds from Samantha Oase, and Katherine Fox and Heather LaBree each scored in double figures as well, but the Blue Hawks fell to Bellevue, 67-58, after a big fourth quarter from the hosts.
The game was close for three quarters, with Bellevue taking a 29-28 lead into the half, but the Blue Hawks came out strong in the second half and took a two-point lead into the final quarter.
A three by Heather LaBree and a layup from Samantha Oase started the fourth quarter, stretching the DSU lead to seven, 53-46, with 8:14 left in the game. However, the Bruins responded with a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to jump in front 56-53. Oase got the Blue Hawks back to within one with 3:37 left in the game, but DSU would get no closer as Bellevue forced a string of turnovers to close the game and pull away for the nine-point win.
Both teams pulled down 37 rebounds, while Bellevue won the turnover battle 14-12. Both teams knocked down 23 shots, but BU connected seven times from long range, while DSU hit only four threes, proving the difference in the contest.
The Blue Hawks will now conclude the regular season at national powerhouse Dakota State on Saturday.
