Sagan Osborne – Dickinson State Sports & Marketing Information Director

Glasgow, Mont. - Dickinson State secured a dominant 35-14 victory over NCAA Division II Minot State in a special dual meet Sunday in Montana. The Blue Hawks utilized three forfeits, four falls, and one technical fall to power past the Beavers in a commanding performance.

"It was an amazing opportunity to showcase women's wrestling out here in Glasgow, Montana tonight," said head coach Tyson Springer. "After a long layoff from last semester to now it was great to see the team pick up where we left off at the end of last semester. Now we have a couple days to recover, and we take on NCAA D2 Chadron Thursday night in Rapid City then finish off the week at home in a double dual. It's a busy week and we look forward to being home next Sunday in front of our home crowd."

The dual opened with Dickinson State taking an 15-0 lead thanks to forfeits at the 103-pound, 110-pound, and 117-pound weight classes. Jennifer Verdin (103), Jenna Gerhardt (110), and Larhae Whaley (117) each added five points to the Blue Hawks' team total without stepping onto the mat.

At 124 pounds, Mikayla Jardine extended the lead with a dominant performance, pinning Skye Shelmerdine of Minot State in just 27 seconds. Jardine's fall brought the team total to 20-0. Jumoke Adekoye followed with another pin at 131 pounds, defeating Keela Kary in 1:59 to increase the score to 25-0.

Jessica Gubler kept the momentum going at 138 pounds, securing Dickinson State's fourth fall of the dual by pinning Lovey Beebe in 2:09. Gubler's win pushed the Blue Hawks to a 30-0 advantage, effectively sealing the team victory early.

Minot State made a late push, beginning at 145 pounds, where Haleigh Lematta defeated Lindsey Anderson by technical fall, 17-2, at 2:22. At 180 pounds, Nina Sandoval earned a pin over Lena-Mae Nelson in 50 seconds, and in the final bout of the dual, Madilyn Schuck delivered the fastest fall of the meet, pinning Hayla Hoffman at 207 pounds in just five seconds. Despite these efforts, the Beavers were unable to recover from Dickinson State's early dominance.

Kiley Hubby added to the Blue Hawks' strong showing at 160 pounds with a technical fall over Megan Ebach in just 25 seconds, earning four points.
