Head coach Justin Schlecht acknowledged the early recognition but emphasized that the team's focus is on development and long-term success.
"We are excited about the season, but we are also working towards more than what these ratings show," Schlecht said. "This is just speculation, we are looking to improve and be committed to that improvement every day. We've been talking about commitment and consistency a lot, and that type of work ethic and direction will help us get to where we want to be in March. Again, ratings only mean so much. The guys will keep working to earn more and demand more of themselves, commitment while being grateful to wear Blue Hawk singlets."
Dickinson State will open its season on November 14 in Dickinson with their annual Blue/Gray Dual before heading to Crete, Nebraska for the Doane Open on December 6.
