Carroll pulls away in second half to defeat Blue Hawks, 70-54

HELENA, Mont. – Dickinson State dropped a Frontier Conference road contest Saturday evening, falling 70-54 to Carroll College at the PE Center.

The Blue Hawks (3-8, 1-6 Frontier) trailed by just two points at halftime, but a difficult third quarter offensively proved costly as Carroll (7-4, 5-2) outscored DSU 23-7 in the frame to take control.

J'Ell Garfield led Dickinson State with 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Kaylin Garza added 12 points, five rebounds, and five blocks, while Kyrie Alldredge finished with eight points and six boards. The Blue Hawks shot 45.0 percent from the field and 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three, but committed 26 turnovers, which led to 27 points for Carroll.

Dickinson State started strong, taking a 20-22 deficit into the second quarter and matching Carroll with 12 points in the second to go into halftime down 34-32. However, the Blue Hawks struggled to generate offense in the third quarter, scoring just seven points while Carroll capitalized on turnovers and second-chance opportunities to build a double-digit lead.

Garza's performance highlighted the post play for DSU, and her five blocks helped Dickinson State to a season-high six blocks as a team. Anhelica Shanrock chipped in eight points off the bench, hitting 2-of-3 from deep, while Izzy Kelly added five points in reserve minutes. The DSU bench contributed 23 points in total.

Despite the defensive presence inside, Carroll held a 32-27 rebounding edge and converted 18 second-chance points. Willa Albrecht led all scorers with 25 points for the Saints, including 13-of-15 from the free throw line.

Allie Kohn and Dylan Stedillie added valuable minutes for the Blue Hawks, combining for seven rebounds and two assists while limiting fouls and turnovers in extended action.
