DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — With determination, resilience, and a flawless finals routine, the Dickinson State University cheer team surged to a third-place national finish at the 2025 NCA College Nationals in the Advanced Small Coed NAIA division.

The Blue Hawks found themselves in fifth place following the preliminary round after deductions hampered an otherwise strong performance. But in true Blue Hawk fashion, the team rallied in the finals with an impressive raw score of 88.5 and zero deductions, earning a final event score of 86.7875 to secure a podium spot.

Oklahoma City University took the national title with a score of 91.8625, followed by UT Southern in second at 87.3125.

"Despite a tough first round that dropped us well below placement for top three spots, the team did the amazing and came back so hard that we got on the podium with a third-place finish," said head coach Cebe Schneider. "I am continually impressed with, and delighted by, the incredible teamwork, athleticism, grit and determination this group of athletes possesses."

Dickinson State's ability to bounce back under pressure was a testament to its veteran leadership and season-long preparation. The team improved by more than six points from prelims to finals—one of the largest jumps among any division at the competition.

"Third place in the nation among so many top collegiate teams is a great note to end our season on, and a strong representation for Dickinson State and our community," Schneider added. "We are so grateful for everyone who supported our journey. Hawks are up!"
