Game 1
Blue Hawks Struggle Early in 12-1 Loss at Jamestown
JAMESTOWN, N.D. — Dickinson State fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 12-1 road loss to the University of Jamestown on Saturday.
The Jimmies jumped on the Blue Hawks with three runs in the first and five more in the second, taking advantage of a series of miscues including three DSU errors and two wild pitches. Freshman pitcher Tate Williams was tagged with the loss, giving up 12 runs (9 earned) on 11 hits over just 2.1 innings of work. Rogelio Gonzalez came in relief and delivered a strong outing, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings while allowing only two hits.
Offensively, Dickinson State managed five hits on the day, with junior Wyatt Wilharm reaching base four times, including an RBI single in the third that plated Sawyer Bryner. John-Michael Gonzalez Jr. collected a pair of hits to lead the Blue Hawks at the plate.
Game 2
Blue Hawks Let Late Lead Slip in 5-4 Loss at Jamestown
Dickinson State was in control early, but a four-run seventh inning by Jamestown and a walk-off single in the ninth spoiled what looked to be a signature road win, as the Blue Hawks fell 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.
Carlos Molina Jr. delivered a strong start on the mound for Dickinson State, allowing just one earned run over 6.1 innings while striking out five. DSU held a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh thanks to a productive start at the plate.
Luis Rodriguez continued his hot streak with two hits and a pair of RBIs, including an RBI single in the first and a run-scoring double in the third. Jadyn Roberts added a key two-RBI triple later in the third to extend the Blue Hawk lead. John-Michael Gonzalez Jr. and Wyatt Wilharm each added a hit and a run scored in the effort.
However, Jamestown capitalized on a pair of defensive miscues and timely hits in the seventh to tie the game at 4-4. After DSU held the Jimmies scoreless in the eighth, Jamestown pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on Alex Alva's RBI single.
Dax Chitty took the loss in relief after issuing three walks in a tense ninth. The Blue Hawks (15-26, 7-9 NSAA) matched Jamestown with seven hits, but couldn't cash in late opportunities. They'll look to bounce back as they return home for their final stretch of conference play against Valley City State University in Dickinson on April 25, 2025.
